Before the Tea Act ever happened, the East India Company could only sell tea at in auction in London, this was a required because they could only pay a tax per pound of tea being sold, but this also added to their problems they were having with money. British markets would have tea available for colonists to purchase, this was before the Tea Act was passed or colonists would smuggle tea from markets illegally. Once stuff like this happened, they would transport the ships back for resale. This all happened before the actual dumping of the tea, in which it got its name the Boston Tea Party. One of the people that were involved in the Boston Tea Party was, Thomas Hutchinson who is the governor of Massachusetts and he was also known as the Chief Justice. He was known for having the ships stay in the Boston Harbor until the issue got resolved. Meanwhile, they had people offload the tea from the ships. Hutchinson was a man who devoted most of his time to business related things, such as joining the family shipping business, before beginning his career. He went to school at the Harvard College and graduated from there in 1727 where his career involved in local politics. Later on, Hutchinson got recognized by a lot by people following the war of King George which happened from 1740-1748. This experience, along with the privilege of working with a special education co-teacher with more than 35 years experience, shaped who I am today as a teacher. At my current school, my department meets every Monday morning in a PLCs using a schedule our principal devised. Our grade-level teachers meet once per month. We meet in impromptu PLCs during the day, before school, after school — whenever we need to in order to work together, support one another, and enhance the learning of our students. Without those built-in professional learning communities, I would not have survived as a teacher. But that’s not all. As a former web design and hosting company owner, I  am most comfortable learning online. Anything I want to know is just a few keystrokes away. So naturally, I turned to the Internet to find answers I needed to my questions, and answers I didn’t know I needed to questions I didn’t even know I should have. During this process of educating myself as a teacher, I discovered #oklaed, and a group of educators who saw potential in me that I didn’t even know was there. Educational leaders who had not even met me provided support, encouragement, and the opportunity to use the strengths I have to help others. I am amazed by this community and privileged to be a part of it. I also want others to share in this experience, to grow as educators in the fold of the #oklaed community. Of Mice and Men Essay on Lennie - 672 Words

Explore the ways Lennie is presented and developed in Of Mice and Men Although Lennie is among the main characters in ‘Of Mice and Men’, he is perhaps the least self-motivated. He experiences no significant changes, development, or growth throughout the novel and remains exactly as the reader encounters him in the opening pages. Throughout this essay I will be explaining the different aspects of his character. Although Steinbeck’s insistent foreshadowing of these characteristics makes Lennie a rather simple character, Lennie’s simplicity is essential to Steinbeck’s idea of the novel. Since the tragedy depends upon the outcome seeming to be expected, we as the reader must know from the start that Lennie is doomed, and must be†¦show more content†¦This extract clearly shows that he is unaware of strength and that he is confused to as why the puppy has been killed. Ironically, Curleys wife is attracted to him because of the violence he had shown in crushing her husbands hand. It is the threat of violence to be used against Lennie that causes George to take the final step of killing his friend. We can also see Lennie as a victim; this is perhaps the most interesting trait of his personality for lots of different reasons. Interestingly, the words used to describe Curley’s fighting and struggle seem to be more violent than Lennie’s aggression, making Lennie seem the victim. The onomatopoeia usage of words such as â€Å"slashed† and â€Å"crashed† create the idea that Lennie is the one being hurt in this situation. Cross sectioning, the same description technique is used when Lennie is suffocating Curley’s wife. Words such as â€Å"battered† and â€Å"writhed† are used to initiate that even though Lennie is the one hurting, he is the victim none the less. Furthermore, Steinbeck writes that â€Å"Lennie watched in terror† as Curley’s hand crushed under his own, showing that even though he is doing it, he can’t control himself and does not want to be hurting him. Instantly, because of the description of the wa y he is acting, we feel sympathy for Lennie, and not the person he has hurt. Finally, we also can believe that Lennie is only ever violent through being invited or tricked into it.
